About Nikki

Nicola ( Nikki) Fortin completed her Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Calgary. She has also completed five Post Graduate courses in Marital Family Therapy and holds an Undergraduate degree in Music Therapy. Nicola has extensive clinical training and experience working with individuals, families and couples. Nicola also leads workshops and retreats focusing on the neurology of trauma and anxiety, uncovering core beliefs, healing conditioned patterns of coping, and increasing self awareness and agency.

Nicola has training in Energy Healing, somatic experiencing as well as over 30 years experience in the practice of yoga, with over 350 completed teacher training hours in Yoga and Yoga Nidra. The blending of all these modalities influences her approach which incorporates healing on all levels of the human experience. She believes that real and lasting occurs when the body, mind and affect are all incorporated and witnessed in a concurrent and safe space.

She also has specialized training in EMDR, attachment based theories, early child brain development, resilience therapy, mindfulness based cognitive therapy (CBT) and has developed expertise in treating many mental health conditions. In particular, her areas of expertise/practical application are depression; anxiety; trauma; relational issues; early childhood disorders; phase of life challenges; family of origin issues and others.
